This practical and interactive webinar is a fantastic

Your Instructor: Marnie Carter
Marnie Carter has been employed in the legal profession for over
twenty years with substantial experience in project and case document
management in regulatory matters, including investigations and in
litigation. She is the Manager of Legal Operations for Starwood Property
Trust and previously held the position of Senior Manager of Practice
Support, Paralegal Services and eDiscovery with Hunsucker Goodstein.
Prior to joining Hunsucker Goodstein, Ms. Carter was employed as a
Senior Electronic Enterprise Resource Project Manager in the Litigation
Department of Morrison & Foerster LLP. She also previously held
the position of Manager of Litigation Operations and Information
Management in the Commercial Legal Department of Gilead Sciences, Inc.
and also functioned as lead Manager of Records and Information
Management in this position. Before joining Gilead, Ms. Carter was the
Paralegal Supervisor for the Silicon Valley office, and was a Senior
Paralegal in the Patents Litigation Group of Weil, Gotshal & Manges
LLP.
Throughout her career, Ms. Carter has regularly had responsibility
for the collection, and management of documents, both paper and
electronic, through discovery and trial in federal and state cases as
well as those pending before the International Trade Commission and in
arbitration and mediation. She also has been heavily involved in the
training, supervision and management of personnel with document and
electronic discovery responsibilities and has served for many years on
EDiscovery sourcing committees. Her most recent work involves
maintenance of organization effectiveness and efficiencies by
supporting strategic plans for implementation of knowledge management
and information technologies. Ms. Carter recommends technological
solutions which aid organizational goals and practices in the area of
legal compliance and readiness whether related to an investigation,
litigation, regulatory matter or subpoena response in collaboration
with our attorney team.
Ms. Carter is a Lead Instructor with the Organization of Legal
Professionals and the Paralegal Knowledge Institute. She previously
taught as an Associate Professor in an Adjunct Faculty role with the San
Francisco State University Legal Studies Program where she provided
instruction in Computer Applications in Law Practice and
eDiscovery/Electronic Evidence. Ms. Carter currently serves on the
Executive Board of the San Francisco Chapter of ACEDS (Association of
Certified E-Discovery Specialists). She has held positions as the
Western Regional Director for Women in EDiscovery, founding Co-Chair of
the Silicon Valley Chapter of Women in EDiscovery and Board Member with
the Steering Committee for the Silicon Valley Chapter of the
Association of Litigation Support Professionals. She is an active
member of the Bay Area Litigation Support Professionals, the
International Practice Management Association (IPMA) and the
International Legal Technology Association (ILTA).
Within her community, Ms. Carter is Executive Director of West
Coast Elite Under Armour Basketball Girls Program in Northern
California and the Program Coordinator for the Boys Program. She is a
former Commissioner with the City of Concord and previously served on
the Board of Directors for the Concord Historical Society. She is an
active Board Member with G.R.I.P., Inc., an organization dedicated to
partnering businesses and resources for the benefit of youth athletic
programs. Ms. Carter majored in International Business Law at the
University of San Francisco and attended the Paralegal Studies
Certificate Program at San Francisco State University.
